I got my first mission for my 21 day project. And I was so excited I just couldn’t wait until Thursday to blog about it. My first mission is to “Write my personal commandments”. What does that mean? Well, Gretchen Rubin describes them as ” the overarching principles by which I try to live my life”, a way to describe my core values. I just went through an exercise like this for my work team, why the heck not do it for myself! I even advocated printing our core values on the wall and hanging them in our cubes. Guess I better take my own advice.
So here we go, Teresa’s Personal Commandments;
- Be Teresa (totally stole this from the Happiness Project Book because it’s perfect)
- Pursue creative interests

- Give what I CAN and only what I can
- Assume the positive
- Act out of love
- Build and maintain positive relationships
- Be kind to myself and others
- Strive for excellence/set high standards
- Celebrate accomplishments
- Make me time happen
- Always be growing
- Be brave
- Make healthy and balanced choices
- Be someone to be proud of
I can see that my weekly mission will be to write these up and post them at home and work. I also give myself leeway to edit and revise as appropriate. Grow, if you will.
I’d say the first mission was a win! I loved this exercise. Maybe some of you will too.
Thanks for reading!
