My Personal Commandments

I got my first mission for my 21 day project. And I was so excited I just couldn’t wait until Thursday to blog about it. My first mission is to “Write my personal commandments”. What does that mean? Well, Gretchen Rubin describes them as ” the overarching principles by which I try to live my life”, a way to describe my core values. I just went through an exercise like this for my work team, why the heck not do it for myself! I even advocated printing our core values on the wall and hanging them in our cubes. Guess I better take my own advice.

So here we go, Teresa’s Personal Commandments;

  1. Be Teresa (totally stole this from the Happiness Project Book because it’s perfect)
  2. Pursue creative interestsDon't stop until youre proud
  3. Give what I CAN and only what I can
  4. Assume the positive
  5. Act out of love
  6. Build and maintain positive relationships
  7. Be kind to myself and others
  8. Strive for excellence/set high standards
  9. Celebrate accomplishments
  10. Make me time happen
  11. Always be growing
  12. Be brave
  13. Make healthy and balanced choices
  14. Be someone to be proud of

I can see that my weekly mission will be to write these up and post them at home and work. I also give myself leeway to edit and revise as appropriate. Grow, if you will.

I’d say the first mission was a win! I loved this exercise. Maybe some of you will too.

Thanks for reading!
